Spiritual Practice

Kundalini Yoga. www.a-healing.com/

For thousands of years yogis preserved and carefully guarded the knowledge of the inner and outer workings of a human being, very cautiously revealing the technology, selectively passing it down verbally from Master to chosen disciple. They were selective because knowledge gives power, and power can corrupt. Kundalini Yoga was always kept very secret.

The practice of Kundalini Yoga balances the glandular system, strengthens the nervous system and enables us to harness the energy of the mind and the emotions, so we can be in control of ourselves, rather than being controlled by our thoughts and feelings.

A good place I know to practice Kundalini Yoga::
Universal Healing Center. 7W 24th Street. Manhattan.
It has been, and still is when I have the chance, a very intense experience.

Books

Autobiography of a yogi. Paramahansa Yogananda. A fabulous book about the magic of love for God, as well as giving a taste of India and an account of supernatural phenomena experienced in spiritual development.

Freedom from the known. J. Krishnamurti. A classic from one of the most sharp and amazing thinkers ever.

In search of the miraculous. P. D. Ouspensky. A great book about the teachings of the great master Gurdjieff. This books is written by his closest student, and explains the amazing theories about the laws of life.

Kundalini and the Chackras, Genevieve L. Paulson. A consistent manual describing the phenomenon of Kundalini rise, with exercises to process that.

The second sex, Simone de Beauvoir A revolutionary book scrutinizing very incisively the subordination of women in an existence mostly defined by patriarchy. This book has caused extreme reactions to millions of readers. Recommended for every man and woman.

Films

Brother sun, Sister moon by Franco Zeffireli. A most recommended film about the life of St Francis of Assisi.

Little Buddha by Bernardo Bertolucci. The story of a the soul of a Tibetan master found reincarnated in the body of a little boy from Seattle. The film describes simultaneously the life of Buddha. It is visually stunning as well.

Meeting with Remarkable Men by Peter Brook. The film about the early life of George Gurdjieff. I liked the movie more than the book.

Jesus of Nazareth by Franco Zeffirelli. 4 video tapes about the life of Jesus. The best production I have ever seen on the Gospels, wonderful and moving acting.

La Bella Verte by Collin Serreau. A French movie about a woman coming from another planet to Paris, France, and finding out about the insane lifestyles led on Earth.

Lost Highway by David Lynch. Powerful as most Lynch's movies are, I found this one exceptionally intense. A film about contracting the devil. You will probably need to see it a few times to absorb it.

Matrix by the Wachowski brothers. An incredible science fiction movie about the power of determination and the transcendence of fear.
