Born in Burundi, Maurice Fernandez grew up in a Jewish family speaking French as his first language. At the age of 13, he moved to Tel Aviv in Israel, eventually learning Hebrew along with English. Always fascinated by astrology, Maurice took his first class at the age of 19. At the time, he was involved in sound engineering studies, yet kept exploring astrology in his spare time as his fascination for this medium intensified, particularly the psychological and spiritual dimensions of it. Friends started to ask for readings, and soon after a client asked Maurice to teach her astrology. This was in the spring of 1993 and it marked the beginning of a passionate career as an astrology teacher.


Later that year, Maurice moved to New York City where he started to correspond with Evolutionary Astrologer Jeffrey Green and taking Kundalini Yoga classes.

Relatively quickly, the practice of Kundalini Yoga stimulated a deep spiritual awakening that radically altered his focus, bringing pristine clarity to the spiritual nature of his life. He met Green in the spring of 1994, enrolled in his study program, and absorbed his teaching at every given opportunity, traveling across continents when necessary. Maurice became a full-time astrology counselor, teacher, and writer from that time on.

In 1996, Maurice invited Noel Tyl and Jeffrey Green to lecture in Tel Aviv—this was the first time foreign astrologers of this caliber came to teach in Israel. In February 1999, he opened the school of Evolutionary Astrology in Israel, which he directed with great success until his second departure for the United States in 2003.

During the summer of 2000, Maurice organized a workshop on the planet Neptune and While preparing for the workshop, he experienced a new spiritual awakening through which he conceptualized new paradigms associated with the influences of the planet Neptune. In 2004, these concepts were published in his book: Neptune, the 12th House and Pisces. The calling to publish the book prompted his move to the United States where he now resides. The book generated both rave reviews and controversy because of its groundbreaking content.

In the course of early 2000, Maurice’s unique approach to Evolutionary Astrology became increasingly important and he labeled it “Astrology of the Evolution of Consciousness.” He departed from his close collaboration with Green to develop this new astrological sub-stream.

As of the spring of 2007, Maurice became officially certified as a Kundalini Yoga teacher and often offers yoga classes combined with his astrology workshops. He published his second book: Astrology and The Evolution of Consciousness - Volume One in 2009, a book that addresses astrology basics from a spiritual and evolutionary point of view. The book has received rave reviews from contemporaries and is used as a manual by several astrology teachers.

In January 2011, Maurice organized The River of Stars Astrology Conference in Hawaii where more than a hundred participants came from the 4 corners of the globe to celebrate astrology in a fun and spiritual way. The conference offered a multi-layered approach to learning, consisting of lecture formats as well as movement, yoga, and immersion into nature. The model provided a rich experience where all senses were stimulated, from intellectual, to emotional, physical and spiritual. This was a completely unique conference experience, never offered before where astrologers not only spoke the stars but also took the time to look at the night sky and receive guidance through the constellations. Maurice organizes workshops and lectures extensively across the world including at many astrology conferences in the US, Europe, Israel, and South Africa, continuing to be fascinated by the wonders of astrology as it maps out the complex nature of our universe and existence.

Maurice has Cancer rising, with a Scorpio Sun and Gemini Moon. After spending 7 years in Colorado, he currently lives in Hawaii surrounded by the amazing beauty of the lava flow pouring into the ocean and the lush vegetation.
